About The Event

Registration: Access the Sandford Health Learning Portal and create an account. Register for BeHEARD for Educators (pi-4521). Within 24 hours you will receive an email to reset your Brightspace password. Please complete this step. You will receive an additional email once your Brightspace course opens. Questions? Description: The BeHEARD for Educators course is a virtual, interactive program designed to increase the confidence of educators and other school staff in addressing youth behavioral health concerns. Behavioral Health Education Awareness and Response Development (BeHEARD) is

an interactive virtual course designed to help increase your knowledge, skills, and confidence in supporting youth aged 10-17 with behavioral health concerns.This is an excellent opportunity for educators to gain practical tools for navigating challenging conversations, creating positive school environments, and obtain professional development credit.


Topics Covered focus on Youth and Educators:

  1. Depression

  2. Anxiety and Stress

  3. Substance Use and Addiction

  4. Trauma

  5. Suicide

  6. Grief and Loss

  7. Non-Suicidal Self Injury

  8. Eating Disorders

  9. Wellness

  10. Stigma


Professional Development Credit: 1 credit available through USF (University of Sioux Falls)

Cost: The course is offered at no charge. An additional fee applies if you choose to earn the professional development credit through USF


Important: Computer-based training modules must be completed prior to the live session
