SPF Application for Prevention Success Training (SAPST)
Time & Location
Sep 08, 2025, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM CDT
Grand Forks, ND
About The Event
SAPST is a foundational course in substance use disorder prevention that blends a four-day, in-person component with an online pre-course component. It is for relatively new prevention practitioners working in communities, education, or government, and is also appropriate for professionals working in related fields, e.g. treatment, mental health, recovery, public health, justice, etc. SAPST is grounded in current research and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework. It provides basic knowledge and skills to plan for implementing effective, data-driven prevention programs, practices, and policies that reduce risk factors and improve wellness in populations across the lifespan. It will provide an interactive overview of prevention’s role in the behavioral health continuum of care and the public health approach to prevention. Participants will also build their skills in identifying and assessing risk and protective factors, viewing prevention with a developmental perspective lens, and will be introduced to the Strategic Prevention Framework which is a planning process that focuses on helping practitioners improve wellness for youth and families in their community.
Required or intended audience: Prevention Professionals in North Dakota
In addition to the in-person training days, participants are required to complete and pass a 5-hour (or less), online Pre-SAPST course by Friday, September 5, 2025. Upon passing the course, a five(5) contact-hour certificate can be downloaded. Access the Pre-SAPST Course Here (You will need to create a FREE HealtheKnowledge.org account to access the pre-requisite course.)
