About The Event
This training provides practical guidance on applying trauma-informed care principles in everyday behavioral health practice with adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and children with severe emotional disturbance (SED). Participants will explore the core principles of trauma-informed care and learn how trauma exposure and re-traumatization can present across developmental stages and service settings. The session emphasizes recognizing signs of trauma, using trauma-sensitive communication techniques in daily interactions, and responding in ways that promote safety, trust, and empowerment.
